The Most Reverend Marcel Gervais, Archbishop of
Ottawa, announces the retirement of Msgr. Ed Lunney and the appointment
of a new pastor at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish.
RETIREMENT OF MONSIGNOR EDWARD
LUNNEY
Msgr. Ed Lunney, pastor at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, will
be retiring as of April 30th 2004 after almost 49 years of service
to the people of the Archdiocese of Ottawa. Msgr. Lunney was born on March 24,
1929 in Pakenham (Ontario) to Elizabeth (ONeil) and Edward Lunney. He
received his primary and secondary education in Fitzroy Township, Kinburn,
Pakenham and Arnprior. He attended the University of Ottawa and St.
Augustines Seminary in Toronto. He was ordained to the priesthood at St.
Peter Celestines Parish in Pakenham by Most Reverend Marie-Joseph
Lemieux, Archbishop of Ottawa, on June 4, 1955. Msgr. Lunney served the
following parishes as curate, pastor or administrator: Our Lady of Perpetual
Help (Ottawa), St. Margaret Mary (Ottawa), St. Theresa (Ottawa), St. Patrick
(Ottawa), Holy Name of Mary (Almonte), St. Declan Mission (Brightside), St.
Brigid (Ottawa), St. Martin de Porres (Nepean) and Resurrection of Our Lord
(Ottawa). He also served as a member of the Council of Priests, as a Consultor
and as Diocesan Chaplain of the Blue Army in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. He
received the title of Prelate of Honour on December 9th 1996.
The Diocese of Ottawa expresses to Msgr. Lunney
its best wishes for a good retirement.
PASTORAL APPOINTMENT AT RESSURECTION OF
OUR LORD PARISH
Most Rev. Marcel Gervais, Archbishop of Ottawa, wishes to
announce the appointment of Fr. Paul Tennyson, scj, (Priests of the Sacred
Heart) as Pastor at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish
(1940 Saunderson Drive, Ottawa). Father Tennyson was born in
Toronto on June 23, 1943. He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John
OMara on April 19, 1997 at St. Marys Church, Hagersville, Ontario.
He served as associate pastor at St. Mary (Hagersville) and St. Joan of Arc
(Toronto) and as pastor at St. Mary (Hagersville). He was Vacation Director for
the English Canadian Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart and Formation
Director for the Canadian Region of the Priests of the Sacred Heart.
Archbishop Gervais will ordain Rev. Gregory Murray, deacon with
the Priests of the Sacred Heart, to the priesthood on May 22nd at
10:00 a.m. at Resurrection of Our Lord Church. |
