APPOINTMENTS ARCHDIOCESE OF OTTAWA
(ENGLISH SECTOR)
The Most Reverend Marcel Gervais, Archbishop of Ottawa, is
pleased to announce the following changes in pastoral appointments. These
appointments take effect on July 1st 2005.
Diocesan Appointments
(Rev.) Msgr. Patrick Powers, P.H., currently Vicar
General and Moderator of the Curia, will become Rector of Notre-Dame Cathedral
effective September 1, 2005. He will remain a Vicar General, and an ex-officio
member of diocesan councils and Chairperson of the Committee for Diocesan
Celebrations, my representative to Inter-Faith Ottawa and to the Friends of the
Cathedral, Administrator of the Archbishops Residence and chairperson of
the OCCB Professional Conduct Committee.
Rev.) Kevin Beach, currently on loan as Rector of St.
Josephs Seminary in Edmonton, will become a Vicar General and Moderator
of the Curia. He becomes an ex-officio member of all diocesan councils and will
replace Msgr. Powers as Chairperson of all the committees he chaired (with the
exception of those noted above) and will also retain specific responsibility
for English Commissions on Liturgy, Christian Initiation, Adult Faith and
responsibility for Catholic Cemeteries and the John Paul II Residence and
others to be announced at a later date.
(Rev.) Jacques Kabangu, currently Rector of Notre-Dame
Cathedral, is appointed to a one-year study period at the Canadian College in
Rome, in order to complete his doctoral studies.
(Rev.) Vincent Pereira, Pastor of St. Augustines
Parish in Ottawa, is also appointed to the position of Judicial Vicar of the
Ottawa Regional Marriage Tribunal.
Pastors
(Rev.) Octavio Cidadao, has been granted a three- year
extension of his appointment as Pastor of Senhor Santo Cristo Parish, Ottawa.
(Rev.) Herman Falke, retires as Pastor of St. John the
Evangelist Parish in Osgoode but is granted a one-year extension of his
appointment as Pastor of St. Brigids Parish, Manotick.
(Rev.) Gerald Gahagan, is granted a one-year extension of
his appointment as Pastor of St. Theresas Parish, Ottawa.
(Rev.) Glicerio Jeminez, currently Associate Pastor of
Our Lady of Fatima Parish is appointed Pastor of St. Michaels Parish in
Fitzroy Harbour and St. Gabriels Parish in Constance Bay.
(Rev.) Giles Joly, while remaining Pastor of St.
Catherine of Sienna Parish in Metcalfe, becomes Pastor of St. John the
Evangelist Parish in Osgoode.
(Rev.) Robert Latour, currently Pastor of St.
Georges Parish, Ottawa, is appointed Pastor of Annunciation of the Lord
Parish, Ottawa, for a period of six years.
(Rev.) William Penney, currently on study leave, is
appointed Pastor of St. Philips Parish in Richmond and St. Clares
Parish in Dwyer Hill, for a period of six years.
(Rev.) Michael Ruddick, currently Associate Pastor of
Divine Infant Parish in Orleans, becomes Pastor of St. Michaels Parish in
Corkery and St. Peter Celestine Parish in Packenham.
Rev.) Robert Ryan, currently Administrator of St.
Michaels Parish in Corkery and St. Peter Celestine Parish in Pakenham,
has accepted a position as a local secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature.
(Rev.) Andre Samson, currently part-time Pastor of St.
Margaret Marys Parish in Ottawa, will be re-assigned to a French Sector
parish.
(Rev.) Paul Shepherd, currently on study-leave, has been
granted a three-year extension of his appointment as Pastor of Holy Redeemer
Parish in Kanata.
(Rev.) Richard Siok, currently Pastor of Annunciation
Parish in Ottawa, is granted a one-year sabbatical.
(Rev.) Leonard St. John, currently Pastor of St.
Michaels Parish in Fitzroy Harbour and St. Gabriels Parish in
Constance Bay, is appointed Pastor of St. Georges Parish, Ottawa, for a
period of six years.
(Rev.) James Whelan, has been granted a one-year
extension of his appointment as Pastor of St. Margaret Marys Parish in
Cumberland.
Part-time Pastors and Administrators
(Rev.) Tim Amyot, O.S.M., currently Administrator of Holy
Redeemer Parish in Kanata, becomes administrator of Assumption Parish in
Vanier.
(Rev.) Jean Decoste, currently part-time Pastor of St.
Edith Stein Parish in Rockland becomes part-time Pastor of St. Margaret
Marys Parish in Ottawa, all the while remaining a Chaplain at the General
Campus of the Ottawa Hospital.
(Rev.) Daryl Kennedy, currently on loan to the Diocese of
Mont-Laurier, becomes part-time Pastor of St. Edith Stein Parish in Rockland,
while remaining a Chaplain at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
(Rev.) Jose Seraphin, currently Administrator of
Assumption Parish in Vanier, returns to his religious community, with our
sincere thanks for his assistance to us.
Associate Pastors
(Rev.) Anthony Hannon, ordained to the priesthood on May
14, 2005, is appointed Associate Pastor of Divine Infant Parish in Orleans.
(Rev.) Lawrence McCormick, currently Pastor of St.
Philips Parish in Richmond and St. Clares Parish in Dwyer Hill, has
asked to become an Associate Pastor for health reasons, and is granted an
appointment as Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Ottawa.
(Rev.) Paul Nwaeze, on loan to our Archdiocese for a
period of two years, is appointed Associate Pastor of St. Patricks Parish
in Fallowfield.
